The Deeper Meaning of the First Degree

We know that there is a physical aspect to our rituals (the ritual itself and its effect), and a mental aspect (that encourages further education and intellectual development).
Bro. Lund believes that there is another level incorporated into our ritual – a spiritual aspect, veiled in allegory, and that this aspect provides a blueprint for a spiritual way of life.
This lecture is not only aimed at the new Mason – it may be of interest to any Mason who has never considered this deeper aspect of our ritual, and those looking for something deeper in Freemasonry.
There is no charge, but small donations will be accepted to cover costs, and for the district charity.

Bro. Gerald Robinson has a Doctorate in Engineering from Leeds University, a Master of Architecture from Harvard, and teaches in the Faculty of Divinity at Trinity College in the University of Toronto. |

The Traveling Gavel:
Brethren,
The proverbial gauntlet has be thrown.
How can Unity Lodge attempt to thwart our reclaiming of the Traveling Gavel? Ionic Lodge is its proper home and to home it will be coming.
It is now our time to show that Ionic Lodge No. 229 is a force with which to be reckoned.
The battle line is drawn.
W. Bro. William Vance and his crew will be aghast on March 1st when they see the awesome Ionic horde descending on Unity Lodge.
To paraphrase Admiral David Glasgow Farragut at the Battle of Mobile Bay when he said, "Damn the Torpedoes . . . we're Ionic".
If there are any other challengers, they are hereby forwarded that we do not take prisoners so you better hope that Unity does.
